Abstract:
Virtual/Augmented Reality is poised to become the “next big thing” after mobile. The VR/AR industry is projected to hit $150 billion by 2020. VR immerses users in virtual worlds and AR blends the real world with the virtual world. In both cases, they dismantle perceptions of reality and immerse human’s basic sensory experience. But with so much data streaming into our senses, how do our senses talk back? It is equally important to capture inputs from the users. Motion sensors, gesture controls, and eye controls are emerging technologies that accompany the success of VR/AR. In this talk, Dr. Chang will share about his perspective on what’s hyped about VR/AR and how user-centric sensing will become an integral part of the immersive experience.
