Abstract
This presentation aims to expand the audience knowledge in areas of clinical psychology and mental illness. Specifically, the presentation will address the specialties of a clinical psychologist and the role differences among various mental health professionals. The myths and facts about mental illness as well as the development of psychological disorders will also be reviewed. This presentation will end with discussions regarding the nature of psychotherapy nowadays and how technology has played a role in the field of clinical psychology.
Bio
Dr. Liu is a licensed clinical psychologist in California and in Taiwan with extensive experience and training helping people confronting challenges including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, relationship issues, and severe mental illnesses. She specializes in treating adult psychopathology and utilizing evidence-based treatments. Dr. Liu received her master degree in clinical psychology from Columbia University and doctoral degree from PGSP-Stanford Psy.D. Consortium. As a bilingual clinical, Dr. Liu also has extensive experience providing therapy to both Mandarin and English speaking clients and is passionate in working with clients from multicultural backgrounds and individuals who struggle with cross-cultural challenges.
