Abstract:

Since Edison’s phonograph invention, music technology has been developed for

more than a century. In this speech, a brief music technology introduction from

Theremin, musique concrete, soundscapes, acousmatic music, to MIDI/synthesizer,

including technology and aesthetics, will be introduced first as a fundamental basis,

and the new trending including interactive music, sound installation, algorithmic

composition, sound synthesis, etc. will be discussed too. Finally several music

technology applications such as emotion-based automated composition, sonification

methodology, singing voice synthesis, and interactive music robotics will be shown,

according to the presenter’s development experiences.
