Abstract

Researchers are from Mars, while industrial people are from Venus. There is a long path to bring a research idea to be a mature industrial product. A successful EDA product not only needs a robust kernel engine, but also need to be easy extendable and maintainable. This talk will introduce how to develop a new global routing tool from scratch in a big EDA company. In addition, the talk will mention the resistance to run a new project, the difficulty to convince customers to buy your new solutions, and the headache to maintain a tool.
