Abstract

Ubiquitous computing (Ubicomp) illustrates a vision where users are surrounded and served by augmented and heterogeneous computing devices and computational resources. This vision introduces a new paradigm of human computer interactions: natural interfaces between humans and computations; automated and pervasive capture of and access to people’s live experiences; and context-aware applications that adapt their behaviors and provide services based on the information collected from physical and virtual environments. In this talk, I'll give an overview of this new paradigm and share my perspective on how it drives new applications, leads to new research challenges, and creates new opportunities.

Bio

Yung-Ju (Stanley) Chang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the National Chiao Tung University. His work is at the intersection of human computer interaction, ubiquitous computing, and information behavior, with a focus on developing context-aware applications and leveraging mobile crowdsourcing to solve design and information problems. He received his B.S degree in Computer Science from the National Chiao Tung University in 2005. He received his M.S. degree in 2009 and his Ph.D. in 2016, both in the School of Information from the University of Michigan working with Mark W. Newman. Recently, Dr. Chang received MediaTek Junior Chair Professor Program Award. He is also a contributor of an online User Experience Series course on edX hosted by the University of Michigan.
