Abstract

 Since the two giant waves in AI – AlexNet for computer vision in 2013 and Transformer for natural language processing in 2018, Deep Learning technology has revolutionized many industries like manufacturing, financial services, retail, autonomous driving, and especially healthcare. There are many healthcare breakthroughs adopt deep learning like AlphaFold to solve the protein folding tasks, federated learning to tackle data privacy issue and so on. The trend of leveraging AI in medical and healthcare domain is keep growing rapidly. NVIDIA as a computing platform company collaborates with healthcare eco-system partners to provide various continuously updated software and hardware tools for researchers and developers accelerate their research. In this talk, we will briefly overview the Deep Learning related innovations in healthcare which are accelerated by NVIDIA technology.

Bio.

Dr. Cheng-Kuang (CK) Lee currently serves as a senior solution architect since 2018 and leads NVAITC-TW (NVIDIA AI Technology Center – Taiwan) to collaborate on various AI/HPC projects with academic researchers.  Dr. Lee worked in TSMC during 2016 - 2018 as principal engineer of YEP (Yield Excellence Program) for developing machine learning and deep learning technology for defect inspection.  From 2012 to 2016, he was assistant professor of EE department and Graduate Institute of medical mechatronics of Chang Gung University (CGU). He received the B.S degree in Physics in 2003, and the PhD degree in 2010 from Graduate Institute of Photonics and Optoelectronics, both from National Taiwan University (NTU). His research and scientific interests include deep learning and machine learning algorithm development, Medical or Industrial imaging system, like Optical Coherence Tomography/Microscopy, ultrasound, MRI, CT etc.
