Abstract

The pursuing of performance and energy efficiency of computing never ends. However, witnessing the end of Moore’s law, conventional computing has been confronting its natural limit, driving the developing of brand-new unconventional computing paradigms. In this talk, we shall focus on several key computing applications, and discuss how unconventional computing can help boost the performance and energy efficiency of these applications. In addition, we shall also take a look at the key issues of realizing unconventional computing on emerging nonvolatile memory and storage media. With the unique supports of in-memory and on-storage computing of these media, the hardware–software co-design techniques of unconventional computing are also explored for enhanced security, robustness, and access control capabilities of data.
