Abstract:
Cyber physical systems (CPS) are physical systems whose operations are monitored, coordinated, controlled and integrated by a computing and communication core. In other words, CPS is a system of systems which offers integrations of computation, networking and physical processes. Applications of CPS include vehicular systems and transportation, medical and healthcare systems, smart homes and buildings, social network and gaming, and so on. In this talk, I will first present an overview of CPS and then briefly introduce the design and challenges of CPS by giving several examples

Pei-Hsuan Tsai received her B.S. degree in Computer Science and minor B.S. degree in Materials Science and Engineering from National Tsing Hua University, Hsinchu, Taiwan, in 2003. She received her M.Eng degree in Computer Science from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, in 2004, and her Ph.D. in Computer Science from National Tsing Hua University, Hsinchu, Taiwan, in 2010. In August 2011, she joined the Institute of Manufacturing Information and Systems in National Chen Kung University as an assistant professor. Before joining NCKU, she was a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Information Science, Academia Sinica, Taipei.
Her research interests have been in the areas of scheduling algorithm, path planning, medical system, wireless sensor network and user interface architectures and designs. Her recent research focuses on technologies for building healthcare assistant devices, hospital automation and lean emergency room.
All faculties and students are welcome to join.
