講題:FINDING THE NEEDLE IN A HAYSTACK, OR HOW TO HELP AUTHORS TO FIND THE WORD THEY ARE LOOKING FOR.

摘要:
To produce language spontaneously and at a normal rate is a challenging problem requiring the solution of several complex tasks: (a) content determination, (b) lexical choice, (c) morphological adjustments and (d) articulation. Yet, despite the complexity of the process we seem to succeed most of the time. The question is how do we manage? I will try to answer this question partially with respect to one of the major components, the lexicon, also called dictionary. Since lexical access (or word access, also called activation) operates on stored information, the question is : what is stored, how is this information represented, organized and accessed. In the remainder I will focus on the following question : is it possible to build an electronic resource helping authors (speakers, writers) to find the word they are looking for?
