Biography
Prof. TAKAFUMI AOKI received B.E., M.E., and D.E. degrees in electronic engineering from Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan, in 1988, 1990, and 1992, respectively. He is currently a professor in the Graduate School of Information Sciences (GSIS) at Tohoku University. Since April 2012, he has also served as the vice president of Tohoku University. His research interests include theoretical aspects of computation, computer design and organization, LSI systems for embedded applications, digital signal processing, computer vision, image processing, biometric authentication, and security issues in computer systems. He has received more than 20 academic awards as well as distinguished service awards for his contributions to victim identification in the 2011 Great East Japan Disaster.
